Why Has The Mynaric (MYNA) Stock Price Gained In Extended Session Friday?

Mynaric AG (Nasdaq: MYNA) gained ground on Friday, rising 3.77% to close off after-hours trading at $5.50.

What may cause the price of MYNA to increase?

On a larger scale, MYNA stock is rectifying the gain it has achieved following a substantial announcement at the start of the past week, despite the fact that it appeared to rebound in extended trading after suffering a loss of -12.83% in a normal session.

As part of the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Tranche 1 Tracking Layer initiative, Mynaric (MYNA) stated last Tuesday that it will give Northrop Grumman optical communications terminals for 14 satellites. Three optical communications terminals, a wide-field-of-view infrared sensor, and a Ka-band payload for communications will all be included on each satellite. Northrop Grumman will receive 42 CONDOR Mk3 terminals from MYNA as part of the deal, with the majority of the product deliveries anticipated in 2024 for deployment in 2025.

The SDA and Northrop Grumman will once more have Mynaric’s backing on this project, which is essential to the defense of the United States. This announcement demonstrates MYNA’s dedication to providing technically solid, serializable solutions for space applications. As we start the delivery of the terminals for the Tranche 1 Tracking Layer satellites, Mynaric will draw on its expertise working with Northrop Grumman on the Tranche 1 Transport Layer.

As one of its two prime contractors for its Tranche 1 Tracking Layer, which is a component of the first Missile Warning/Missile Tracking warfighting capability of the National Defense Space Architecture (NDSA), the SDA chose Northrop Grumman in July. From the time of launch until they are intercepted, advanced missiles and hypersonic weapons will be detected, recognized, and tracked by Tranche 1 Tracking Layer. The Tranche 1 Tracking Layer satellites will function in up to four low-Earth orbital planes once completely deployed in 2025, coupled to the Tranche 1 Transport Layer satellites.

Since Northrop Grumman was closely collaborating with Mynaric and its other industry partners to quickly develop this crucial missile warning and missile tracking capability, Tranche 1 Tracking builds upon and ties to Northrop Grumman’s Tranche 1 Transport Layer program.

MYNA chosen as development partner:

As part of Phase 1 of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Space-based adaptive communications node (Space-BACN) program, Mynaric (MYNA) has also recently been chosen as a key development [TD1] [KH2] partner to develop a benchtop model of a next-generation optical communications terminal (DARPA). The news, which comes after MYNA was chosen to take part in Phase 0 of the Space-BACN initiative at the end of last year, shows its ongoing success with U.S. government clients, who are essential in the development of space-based optical communication capabilities.
